Does Morality Matter?

Passage: 2 Peter 1:1-11

Speaker: Pastor Scott Stephan

Series: The Great 8 - From Faith to Love

Category: Faith

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.”

 2 Peter 1:1-9

 FAITH

  • Faith in Jesus is a gift that is received
  • Faith in Jesus is enough
  • Faith is a gift to be used       (James 2:14-26)

ADD TO YOUR FAITH GOODNESS

  • Add = to provide (at one's own expense), supply, furnish."

Salvation is something God does for us and we receive.

Spiritual growth is something we partner in with God.

  • Goodness = arête = virtue, moral excellence, integrity

“Finally, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, if anything is arête or praiseworthy, think on such things.” Ph 4:8
